In response the the increase in interest and adoption of desktop virtualization, VMware recently launched a new lineup of VDI certifications. The three tiered certification lineup includes:
- VMware Certified Associate Desktop (VCA-DT) an entry level exam and a starting point for Desktop Virtualization certifications, the VCA is geared towards desktop system administrators who work with (or want to work with) desktop virtualization.
- VMware Certified Professional Desktop (VCP-DT) designed for current VCPs, the VCP-DT is directed towards virtualization systems engineers who have experience with desktop virtualization as well as the VCA-DT under their belts
- VMware Certified Advanced Professional Desktop (VCAP-DT) at the highest level, the VCAP-DT exam is still in development
VMware recommends six months of experience with desktop virutalization and specifically, with the VMware View product before attempting the entry level VCA-DT exam.
Additionally, theres no classroom requirement for any of the VMware View certifications, which means candidates are free to learn about VDI and prepare for the exams on their own.
